Fire the ticket checkers, they are rude and overpaid.
It would be a good idea to provide EcoPasses or a special student montly fare to students at the various colleges and universities that are within VTA's service area in order to encourage their ridership. Younger students who aren't old enough to drive are covered by Youth fare but college students are not. Maybe even a yearly pass that is valid between August and June for a reasonable price. VTA should also attempt to ...more »
Allow up to 8 minutes "grace" (depending on actual BART arrivals) to Line 180 departures from Fremont BART on Raider-game Sundays. My BART train scheduled to arrive Fremont at 5:38 yesterday was 7 minutes late. I arrived at the 180 bus stop 2 minutes late and had to wait (with a dozen or more other passengers) an additional 28 minutes. Thanks.
What if VTA had Express service (NEW Line 190) to/from Great Mall & Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station (via 1-680), connecting with WHEELS, BART, County Connection, SMART, MAX..etc.
offer new community bus lines to/from SJC Airport and neighboring cities (operation on the freeways if needed) #1 - San Jose Diridon Station/Downtown San Jose - San Jose Int'l Airport #2 - Eastridge - San Jose Int'l Airport #3 - Milpitas/Great Mall - San Jose Int'l Airport #4 - Great America - San Jose Int'l Airport #5 - Lockheed Martin/Moffett Park - San Jose Int'l Airport #6 - Valley Fair - San Jose Int'l Airport ...more »
Have the #22/Rapid 522 stop in San Jose Diridon Station
have extra buses in service for Lines 180/181
Offer day, week, month, and year passes with progressively deeper discounts, but double (at least) the discounts currently offered. Make it attractive to *plan* on using public transportation.
Make bus stops closer to each other at intersections where commuters transfer to other bus lines so that they don't miss their connection because they have to cross the street to get to their bus stop.
Well, I got here by way of a link on the home page asking the question 'what would make you ride transit?' So, my answer is that it's something that's not going to happen, if it happens at all, for quite some time. Many of the city & residential areas in this county are simply not designed for frequent & affordable public transportation. They're designed for cars (big wide streets & lanes). There is a small effort ...more »
For Line 180 Express, instead of having the line enter/exit I-880 from Great Mall Parkway, the line should enter/exit I-880 to/from Montague Expwy., then take Montague to Great Mall Parkway, then turn into the Great Mall Transit Center, thus creating faster service to/from San Jose and Milpitas.
Promote electronic cards, while reducing paper usage for passes.
Express light rail service should stop at Taimien also. This is a very popular transfer station to the Caltrain. It doesn't make sense not to stop at the Taimien stop.
Reduce the price of the day pass for non-express buses. Over the past two months I have become very familiar with the system. Most of the time however it is not worth getting a day pass because of the cost of the pass and the time it takes to travel from destinations, including waiting at bus stops. If the price of the day pass was reduced to 4 or 5 dollars, I would be more likely to use VTA.
Says what it is and whom it is about. Plain and simple.
